We never imagined the challenges we would be facing as we moved in to 2020, but face them we did and I am so proud of the way our residents have embodied everything it means to be One Stockport. You have given support, showed kindness, empathy, and tolerance, in really difficult times. So, I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you for everything you have done this year. Whatever your role, be it a front line or key worker, carer or volunteer, or a family taking care of each other and keeping safe, your contribution has made such a difference to the lives of many, many people in Stockport. So, thank you once again and I wish you a very merry Christmas and all the very best for 2021. I’d like to echo what Cllr Elise Wilson has said. We never knew the challenges that we were going to face in 2020 but we’ve met those challenges. I would like to thank residents across Stockport who have worked so hard no matter what their role. Whether it’s been on the frontline, whether it’s been as a carer, whether it’s just been keeping your family together by making sure that you do the things that you’ve needed to do. You’ve done things in different ways. People work from home, people have worked in offices, people have managed to live their lives in these difficult circumstances showing empathy and kindness to each other and community spirit that will last for a long time. I would like to thank everybody in Stockport for everything that they have done in 2020 and here’s hoping that 2021 will be much better. So, merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Take care.
