Digital is transforming many aspects of our lives from
the way we keep in touch with friends and family to the way we learn. How
we work and the types of jobs we do. It helps us find
out information, shop, bank, book holidays and explore our interests.
It gets us the answers and services we need around the clock and
can save us money. Digital
is becoming central to everything, and as a council
that puts people at the heart of everything we do. We want people who live and work in Stockport
to make the most of the opportunities that digital brings. So
we've created a digital strategy which sets out the priorities around
three linked areas digital communities, digital
place, digital council, digital
communities providing more support for people who aren't online or
aren't confident doing things on the Internet. Providing people with accessible
online information. Supporting residents to remain independent
by providing digital health monitoring and telecare.
Digital place. Having the digital infrastructure to grow our local
economy. Building our digital skills base to attract better paid
jobs. Using smart technology to improve people's lives
and support our climate action ambitions. Digital council
using digital working practises across our organisation, using
data to better understand, need and improve the user experience, sharing
more data securely and increasing its security. Stockport
is already a digital borough, but there is more we can and want to do
to make Stockport a radically digital borough. To find out more
