Hi. My name is Sara with Stockport Libraries, and I'm here today to talk about Christmas Crime night.
It's our fourth annual event this year, celebrating Agatha Christie and everything
Hercule Poirot. 100 years ago, she published The Mysterious Affair at Styles
and introduced the world to Hercule Poirot for the first time-- who happens to be my favourite detective.
So this year's Crime Night is celebrating all things Agatha and Hercule Poirot.
We're having a live zoom event on December 17th called A Very Christie Crime
Night, and I hope you'll join us for that. But as we can't join in person, we've got the next
best thing, the Crime Night Take Home Pack, full of activities and ways you can join in online
and through social media. You will find in your pack a welcome letter listing
what's included and ways you could be involved. We're having a writing competition. Where's
Agatha? It's explained here in the letter: anything is fine, long, short
stories outlines of plots. But we want to see what creative ways you can imagine
where Agatha went for 10 days in 1926 when she was missing. We can't wait
to read what you come up with. Also, in the kit is a moustache competition.
There's a flyer with some details and also a frame. We'd love to see all
your best moustaches. Silliest, craziest, best, most Poirot... Whatever you want.
We have a frame to help you. You can highlight your Tash or go incognito if selfies aren't your
style, but we'd love to see them on social media or email them in. Also
in the kit is a Poirot apple tisane spice kit. You've got a recipe card and
the spices to help make a lovely apple spice drink. We have it each year as we
gather, but as we can't be in person, we hope you can make your own-- just add apple juice-- and
have it with us if you join us on our live Zoom event. Also in the kit is
a book-page inspired craft activity. We have this old, rather
broken copy of Death on the Nile, so we've taken the pages from that and included them in your kit
and stencils and instruction sheets are included to make a craft like this. But
feel free, be inspired. Do something that you like. This book would have been recycled
so Instead, we're upcycling it. And that's what's included in your kit. We hope
you'll join us for A Very Christie Crime Night on December 17th at 7 p.m. on Zoom.
And we hope that you're inspired to come to the library and collect a take home kit. If you
are, please email and let us know which library you'd like to collect it from and to
sign up for the zoom event. The details are in the post. Hope to see there. Bye.
