Empowering Parents Empowering Communities provides workshops and courses led by parents for parents within our Stockport community. It was amazing, it changed my life, it changed my family's life. It's been phenomenal, it's really helped me to grow in confidence. I did find the course very useful, it helped with my child's emotions. My journey with the EPEC is a very good one and I'm so happy and proud of it. When I came on the course, it made me aware that I need to get closer to my child. I have to read. When a child is not happy, by looking at him, by even giving him the attention to get closer, I'm able to find out what is going on. Because sometimes you can feel really on your own. Isolated. Yeah, very isolated and you just feel like it's only you living this life. So it's a very good course, it's a very good thing. After I completed the course, I went into the training to become a parent group leader, which I found really useful and really enjoyed passing the knowledge on to other parents. I think that's one of the key things of the EPEC and the courses that we deliver is the fact that we aren't paid or employed. It's obviously peer-led and it's lived experiences. Supervisors provide ongoing guidance by monitoring sessions, addressing issues and encouraging a positive, empowering environment. It enables group leaders to effectively deliver parenting skills and strategies, fostering strong family relationships and improving outcomes for children in the community. It's been phenomenal. It's really helped me to grow in confidence and it's just nice to give something back to the community and to feel like you are a part of that community also. They're not on their own. We've all been there and I think because it's us parents that are doing it and we've got lived experience, they relate to it so much.
