There was a selection of girls from Year 3 to 6 that went to a Shape's events, where they were taught a variety of football and activities. They received a bag full of bibs, balls, cones and nets, and in order to get that bag, we had to agree as a school to provide an area where girls could play football without the impact of the boys. Some schools did one day. We at Westmorland have done every breaktime for girls football, girls football, on a Monday to Thursday takes part on a car park and then on a Friday they get to use our amazing sports facility on the astroturf run by some of our elite sports coaches. First and foremost, we needed support from the school because without the support from the school, there's only so much we can do and the school, pretty much anything that we asked for with regards to the girls they have given us so they've given us a good opportunity and the uptake on it has been absolutely excellent, even today the girls say when's football back on after school. So they always look forward to it. The numbers have been phenomenal. And we could probably double the numbers if we even had more room. So yeah, it's really, really rising well here. I really like the girl's football because I get to run around with my friends and -it's just fun. One thing that we knew from being female ourselves is we lack confidence. Boys have confidence and the girls don't. So what we have spread between all these girls. They are now confident. They are now wanting to come and play football. Whereas prior to that, no confidence. Bit shy, not really wanting to get involved. So the first thing that we've built is a confidence and then wanting to do it. Now you can see they have loads of fun doing it. Also, some of them play really competitively now, which is great.
