We are responsible for the commissioning and the contracting of well over 150 different providers within the borough. We have a responsibility to both the contractual agreements and arrangements, but also the tendering when those contracts come to an end to go into a competitive process and find providers that are of the right quality and outcomes for people. Our primary aim is really to help people with maintaining their independence because by and large individuals want to live at home and stay at home and that's really a key mission of ours. In the last year we were able to commission a service that was a collaboration of several different organisations to come together and provide services that were really about early intervention and support and building skills and that's been incredibly successful. I recently went to a one year celebration and heard the stories of individuals who have been supported by that organisation and the stories of the people who work there and it was incredibly uplifting because we saw what a very fairly simple idea and solution and could see the impact it had. Well I'd say the thing I love the most about it is around knowing that what you do each day does have an impact and you do try to work and get better each day and try to improve on things and not rest on our laurels. But I also love the people I work with and the opportunities I've had here. Stockport's a great place and I've been here 19 years now so there's a good reason for that.
