I'm the team manager of the brokerage service and we centre ourselves around two main areas. So that's commission services looking for domiciliary packages of care for residents that need support and also direct payments which is a more personalised form of support for the residents. They get to choose how they want their support to be delivered and we provide the budget. I do a lot of that focus work with the direct payment team so we get their views with a view to doing some co-production stuff to better the service that we offer to those people in receipt of direct payments. I think our team is vitally important in allowing the residents to live their best lives really. So where people have been assessed as needing a bit of additional help and support, being able to get in place those domiciliary care packages of care, arranging day services for people or direct payments to give them that flexibility and choice and control of how best to support them I think makes a real difference. A lot of what I do involves getting their views on how they best want to receive those direct payments and making sure that they're done as safely as possible in line with the legislation and in line with the CARE Act. I would say the main highlights have been working with the direct payment user group and working with those people receiving a direct payment. I think they've really learnt a lot from that and hopefully it's going to make us a stop or deliver much better direct payment services moving forward. For as long as I've worked at the council, I've had more of an appreciation of the amount of work that local government does. Just knowing that at the end of the day you've sourced a package of care that allows somebody to go home from hospital, it's so thoroughly rewarding.
